Pamoja Farms: We’ve got work to do!

We've Got More Work to Do!

As we reflect on the past two years, we should be proud of what we've accomplished together at Pamoja Farms. From starting with the purchase of 100 acres to planting and selling our first

crops, to harvesting our garlic the following year. Even us being able to fund our farm project through all the hurdles we face, we've made significant strides towards creating a thriving

community farm!

Our Journey So Far

In 2022, we purchased 100 acres of land in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, and began cultivating our

vision for a sustainable community farm. Our first year saw the successful planting and

harvesting of a variety of vegetables, including cherry tomatoes, kale, callaloo, garlic, and

onions. In our second year, we focused on planting and harvesting garlic, with impressive

results. However, constraints due to finances we were not able to expand and fully attain our

desired outcomes. Thanks to our partnership with Fair Fund Finance we were able to source a

new more favorable mortgage and with the contribution of our Board members and

members we have been able to finance Pamoja Farms thus far.

Expanding Our Horizons:

As we look to the future, we're excited to share our plans for expansion. We aim to plant

another 5 acres of land, which will include:

- A 4-acre mixed vegetable farm

- A designated member's community garden

- A 1-acre greenhouse for teaching and microgreens

We Need Your Support:

However, we can't achieve this vision without your support. As a community-driven project, we

rely on the involvement and investment of our members to help us grow and thrive.

We're calling on you to get re-invested in Pamoja Farms. We need your help to weather the

storm of financial constraints and to build a legacy that will benefit our community for years to

come.

The Bigger Picture:

As you may know, the statistics on food insecurity and access to healthy produce in our

community are alarming. But we believe that together, we can make a difference.

Pamoja means "togetherness" in Swahili, and that's exactly what we need right now. We need

your support, your enthusiasm, and your commitment to helping us build a better future for our

community.

Get Involved!

So, what can you do to help?

- Renew your membership or become a new member

- Make a monthly commitment that you can use towards your shared ownership of the farm

- Volunteer your time and skills to help us with our expansion plans

- Spread the word about Pamoja Farms and our mission

Together, we can achieve great things and create a thriving community farm that will provide access to fresh, healthy produce for years to come.

Thank you for your continued support.

In the words of our founder: “Let’s do this!”
